We watched Ray last night. Jamie Foxx makes phenomenal portrayal of Ray Charles; what an all-round talented individual. A trained musician, Foxx performed the piano playing in all the scenes of the movie. Crazy too that he went through the entire movie with his eyes closed, except for one short scene.
I'm a young guy, so I only know the Ray Charles at the end of his career. I had no idea of the struggles, the heroin addiction, the conflicts with managers and production studios. Also didn't realize what a tremendous impact Ray's music had on the industry... based on the movie, it seemed like he could do no wrong, taking his music in every which direction and always ending in success.
I wonder if there will be any characters in the music world today that will have such an interesting life story to tell after they have passed on.
